Students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades

| Essay format: |
Length: Approximately 500 words. Essay
must be typed, double-spaced, with student's name and home address on each
page. Essay must have a cover sheet with essay title, student's
name, home address and telephone number. Title must not be changed
nor topic altered.

| Application form: |
Essay must be accompanied by our
completed Washington Workshops application form, signed by the student,
teacher/counselor and a parent/guardian complete with photo (school
picture or snapshot is fine). Both sides of the application must be
completed. Note: no application fee is required by entrants
as this is paid by the sponsoring organization.

| How to enter: |
One completed application form
(with picture) and two copies of essay are to be sent to the
Colonial Dame listed on the back of the application form (or poster) by
January 15, 2009. Essays are judged on the State, Regional and
National level. Winners will be notified by mail in early April,
2009 by the National Consultant. Decision of the judges is final.

Attendance at a Congressional Seminar Workshop planned and coordinated
by The Washington Workshops Foundation. The seminar is a unique
experience in the study of American national government with emphasis on
the concerns and activities of the United States Congress.

| Value: |
Approximately $1,300.00 which pays for the
following expenses: Application fee, tuition, seminar materials, local
transportation (for seminar activities) plus college dorm room (double
occupancy), bedding and two meals daily (breakfast and dinner) at
a university campus in the D.C. area. Funds toward travel/miscellaneous
expenses are provided by some State Societies.
