About

The George Mason Memorial, dedicated on April 9, 2002, honors the little known but widely felt contributions of an important Founding Father. Born in 1725, George Mason wrote the Virginia Declaration of Rights and later attended the Constitutional Convention in 1787. The memorial is located in East Potomac Park near the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. It was commissioned by the NSCDA.

Directions

Interstate 395 provides access to the Mall from the south. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washing-ton Memorial Parkway, and the Cabin John Park-way provide access from the North. Interstate 66, U.S. Route 50 and 29 provide access from the West. U.S. Routes 50, 1, and 4 provide access from the East. There is limited handicapped parking at the Lincoln and FDR memorials; otherwise parking is extremely scarce in Washington, D.C.
