About
The Henry B. Clarke House is the oldest house in the original Chicago city limits and an early example of Greek Revival Architecture in the Midwest. Interpretation of Clarke House focuses on the social history of antebellum Chicago (1836-1860) during a period of economic expansion, recession, and rapid industrialization. The Illinois Society owns the furnishings collection, cares for the artifacts, and supports educational programming.Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums
