- See see the moments how they pass
How swift they speed away
Louisa here as in a glass
Behold thy life’s decay.
O waste not then thy youthful prime
In follys crooked road
Be circumspect redeem the time
Acquaint thyself with God.
So when the pulse of life shall cease
Its throbbing transient play
Thy soul to realms of endless peace
Shall wing its joyful way.

Abdiel is likely a pseudonym for the composer of this verse. The character of Abdiel is the loyal angel in John Milton’s poem Paradise Lost.
The original name in the third line is 'Jemima'. Our stitcher has changed it to her own.
