- A large church dominates the center of this sampler. Before it is a large green lawn filled with 18 sheep, two of which are black. On each side are 4 pine trees with a man and woman beneath each. Two large baskets of flowers and two smaller pots of flowers on both sides. Arcade border all four sides. (Note): See sampler #4130 for a nearly identical sampler done by Margaret Cassady, (sister?, cousin?) twelve years later in 1826).
- Inscription
- (At top): Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand / As the first effort of an infant hand / An while her fingers over this canvas move / Engage her tender heart to seek thy love / With thy dear children let her share a part / And write thy name thyself upon her heart./ (On the green lawn): Catherine Cassadys Work / Washington City, Feb 14 1814 //
