(In square top L): C (In center): Diana / Thorton / (In square top R): S / Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand / As the first efforts of an infants hand / And while her fingers o'er this canvass move / Engage her tender heart to seek thy love. / With thy dear children let her share a part / And write thy name thyself upon her heart. (In a centered cartouche): D Thornton / In thy fair Book of life devin / My God inscribe this name / There let it fill some humble place / beneath the slaugter'd Lamb.
