(In the L column): Resignation to the divine power / Be calm my soul no more lament / At fortunes adevers gate / Can sighs or tears restore content / Can grief o'er ills prevail / When Hearven this mass of earth de-forms / And Clouds obscure the sky / The fix'd foundation braves the storm / Its boisterous rage defies / By faith so fix'd the virtuous mind / Of sacred stores possess'd / Misfortunes hurt not _ Calm resignd / Hope Cheers the patient Brest / By hope inspir'd still may I view / Each joyless day retire / May follies ffrows my love subdue / And damp each warm desire / So shall I in afflictions school / with care each lesson gain / Instructed learn each painfull rule / Each precept sound rtain / Then shall no guilty impious deed / My innocence destroy / But wisdom teach and Virtue lead / To Happiness & joy / (In the R column): Divine Wisdom display'd / The spacious firmament on high / With all the blue etherial sky / And spangled heavens a shining frame / Their great Original proclaim / The unwearied Sun from day to day / Does his Creators power display / And publishes to every land / The work of an Almighty hand / Soon as the evening shades prevail / The moon takes up the wond'rous tale / And nightly to the list'ning earth / Repeats the story of her birth / While all the stars that round her burn / And all the planets in their turn / Confirm the tidings as they roll / & spread the truth from pole to pole / What though in solemn silence all / Move round the dark terrestrial ball / What tho nor real voice nor sound / Amid their radian orb be found / In Reason's ear they all rejoice / & utter forth a glorious voice / Forever singing as they shine / The hand that made us is Divine / (In a small cartouche at the bottom): Hannah Kelton / Finish'd this Piece / in the 13th year of her age / 1805
