Predominent Motif
In a center square a girls and a dog stand beneath a tree. She hold a fan in her L hand and a staff in her R. Across the bottom a geometric hill with trees and animals on each level. Various motifs of birds, a squirrel, butterfly, birds, flowers are scattered all around. A cross band of crosses near top and one of flowers near the bottom. Arcaded strawberry border down both sides and across the top.
Inscription
Jane Ballards Sampler Aged 10 years 1799 / Tell me ye knowing and discerning few / Where I may find a friend both firm and true / Who dares stand by me when in deep Distress / And then his love and Friendship most express.
