Predominent Motif
A large church dominates the center of this sampler. Before it is a large green lawn filled with 19 sheep. On each side are 4 pine trees with a man and woman beneath each. Two large baskets of flowers and two large birds on either side. Near the top are two small hearts and rose sprays. Arcade border all four sides. (Note): See sampler #4129 for a nearly identical sampler done by Catherine Cassady, (sister?, cousin?) twelve years earlier in 1814).
Inscription
(Near the top): The source of happiness / Reason's whole pleasure all the Joys of sense / Lie in three words, health, peace, and competence: / But health consists with temperance alone. / And peace. O virtue: peace is all thy own / (In the green lawn: Margaret A Cassadys / Work Washington Oct 3 1826 //
