Inscription
(On L side): When Pilate said behold the man / Our Jesus did not frown / But like a meek and gentle lamb / He wore the thorny crown / Insulting soldiers strike his head / The blood runs quickly down / He answers not but silent bleeds / Beneath the thorny crown / (On R side): O king of sorrow at thy feet / Let us our pride cast down / And own thou art our sovereign meek / Decked with the thorny crown / O then shall pride those senses feed / Whom thy dominion own / Shall rosy garlands bind this head / No no a thorny crown /
