- The bed was earth the raised pillar stone
whereon poor Jacob rested his head and bones
Heaven was his Canopy the shades of night
were his drawn Curtains to exclude the light.
poor state of jacob hear it seems to me
his cattle found as souft a bed as he
yet god appeared their joy his crown
god is not always found in beds of down
