- Although no clear precedent was found for these lines appearing together, they appear separately as common phrases. “Hastens to decay” and “fairest flowers of the Spring,” often appear as conventional phrases. Ideas such as “time glides” and “blooming youth” share similar frequency of use. Perhaps the stitcher chose her favorite expressions or there may be a source I have not found.
