About

Senator John Brown built this home for his second son, Orlando (1801-1867). This home is one of the few surviving examples of domestic architecture by Gideon Shryock (1802-1880) who is considered the father of Greek Revival architecture in Kentucky. Descendants lived here until 1955 when it was deeded to the Kentucky Society and opened to the public.
